Zara will produce XXL clothes
According to the publication The Local and other media, the owner of the Inditex group which owns Zara brand, will sign a petition to extend the sizes range of the brand line: now Zara will produce clothes of the size XXL. The petition on Change.org was launched by 18-year-old Anna Riera: she said that many women can not find their size in the stores and that it is time for brand owners to stop thinking that big girls are mythical creatures that do not exist in nature.
New creative director of Lanvin
The WWD publication confirmed that the new creative director of the fashion house Lanvin became Bushra Zharrar. She will lead the direction of women’s clothing and will release her first collection for the spring-summer 2017 season. Uiban Michel, CEO of the fashion house, said that Zharrar is known for excellent cut and the ability to combine different materials. Zharrar plans to bring «harmony and restraint, fashion that is created for women, for contemporary fashion» in a collection of Lanvin brand. After the departure of Alber Elbaz, who led the fashion house until October of 2015, Lanvin had problems with the organization, which resulted in lower sales. Temporary designers of women’s collections were Chemena Kamali and Lucho Final.
Proenza Schouler presented a film about women
New York brand Proenza Schouler released a short film dedicated to the unique relationships that develop between women, whether bond of mothers and daughters, sisters, twins or couples in love. Video «PS I Love You» timed to the release of a new collection, but more attention is paid to it in the heroines, their stories about their relationships and reasoning about friendship in general. Among the participants – there is a punk performer Cambrian Pfaler, singer and actress Sybil Buck with her little daughter, actress Natasha Lyon and others. These statements add up to one big declaration of love to all women – sisters by blood and spirit, mothers and lovers.
Video was shot and directed by photographer Harley Weir, who has worked on the movie about female friendship for Stella McCartney, as well as the provocative Calvin Klein campaign, affirming women’s right to sexuality.
100 years old model in Vogue
British Bo Gilbert became the first woman at the age of 100 years old, whose photographs appear on the pages of Vogue. Advertising photography for Harvey Nichols network with her participation, made by Phil Poynter, will appear in a special anniversary edition of the magazine: publication marks the same age as Gilbert. Photos of Mrs Gilbert wearing a top by Victoria Beckham, Dries Van Noten coat, Lanvin necklace, Valentino sunglasses and The Row pants.
